Precision career decisions for the C-suite.
EXECUTIVE CAREER DECISION FACILITATION
A structured process for
resolving a consequential career
decision
You know there is a career decision to make.
You may be deciding whether to stay, leave, accept an opportunity, decline one or change the scope of your professional life.
You may already have gathered the facts, considered other people’s opinions and examined the options yourself. The decision still has not been resolved.
Executive Career Decision Facilitation gives you a private, structured way to work through it.
THE OUTCOME
Your Defining Move
The purpose of the engagement is to identify your Defining Move.
Your Defining Move may be:
The decision itself
The action that
makes the decision
final
The specific next
step needed before
the decision can be completed
HOW THE ENGAGEMENT WORKS
Prepare. Deconstruct. Resolve.
01
Prepare
After securing your session, you complete The Brief.
The Brief asks you to describe:
The decision
What brought it to a head
The options you are considering
What delaying the decision may cost
The facts and limits that affect the choice
The assumptions you may be making
What reaching a conclusion would allow you to do
Most executives complete The Brief in 45 to 60 minutes. Your responses are reviewed before the session so that our time can be spent working through the decision rather than gathering background information.
02
Deconstruct
During a private 90-minute session, we lay out the decision clearly.
We examine:
What you know
What you are assuming
What remains uncertain
What each option offers
What each option costs
What each option protects
What each option requires you to give up
The purpose is not to make the decision easy. It is to make the choice and its consequences easier to see.
03
Resolve
We test the options against the facts, priorities, limits and consequences that matter to you.
By the end of the session, the analysis is brought into one Defining Move: the decision itself or the exact action required to complete it.
The conclusion is developed during the session. There is no extended program or continuing engagement.
THE SCOPE
Decisions this process is designed for
Executive Career Decision Facilitation may be appropriate when you are deciding:
Whether to remain in your current role or leave
Whether to accept or decline a senior opportunity
Whether an internal change would address the real issue
Whether to reduce, expand or change your professional scope
Whether to relocate for a role
Whether to leave an established position for another defined option
Which of several realistic career options is the strongest choice
The decision must concern your own professional direction. You must also be able to identify the main options.
What this process does not provide
Decision Facilitation is not coaching, counselling or consulting.
It does not provide legal, financial, tax, psychological, operational or general business advice. If your decision depends on expertise in one of these areas, obtain that information from the appropriate professional first.
The process does not tell you what to do. It gives you a clear structure for examining the decision and reaching your own conclusion.
You remain the decision-maker and retain full authority and responsibility for what you choose.
Your responsibilities
The process works when:
The decision is yours to make
You can identify the main options
You have the information that could significantly change those options
You are willing to question your assumptions
You are prepared to work toward a conclusion
You complete The Brief fully and submit it at least 24 hours before the session
If The Brief shows that essential preparation remains incomplete, the session will be postponed until the decision is ready to examine.
THE ENGAGEMENT
What is included

The Brief
Advance review of your completed Brief
